Damage to, destruction of or loss of a tangible item.
In brief
For damaged property, repair costs, diminution in value and necessary ancillary costs may be relevant. In a total loss, the item’s value less any residual value is generally considered.
Condition, market value, repairability and the avoidance of overcompensation are relevant to the calculation.
