- Care costs Costs of necessary care and assistance resulting from personal injury.
- Causation The causal link between the harmful conduct and the damage suffered.
- Compensation for pain and suffering Monetary compensation for physical and psychological pain caused by personal injury (section 1325 ABGB).
- Contractual liability Liability for loss caused by breach of an existing contractual duty.

- Damage A disadvantage affecting property, rights or protected interests that must be compensated where the statutory requirements are met.
- Declaratory relief claim A claim seeking a declaration of liability where future consequences cannot yet be finally quantified.
- Duty to maintain safety The duty to prevent foreseeable dangers to people in an opened or controllable area.
- Duty to mitigate loss The duty not to increase an existing loss unnecessarily.
